With
today’s battery technologies (e.g., nickel
cadmium, nickel hydride, and lithium ion),
a simple battery charger cannot adequately
provide optimized charging capability without
compromising safety, battery life, and recharging
optimization. The Intelligent Battery Charger
addresses these issues. It optimizes the charging
requirements of each battery type. Battery
testing is an added feature because the charger
incorporates a Z8 Encore!® microcontroller,
which provides all of the necessary interfaces
to minimize hardware and software development.
Because the Intelligent Battery Charger requires
the operator to select the battery technology
type, a keyboard and display are integrated
with minimal external hardware. The system
is designed to ensure safety and extended
battery life.
