The ZiLOG MIDI Master is a MIDI percussion controller
developed exclusively around the Z8 Encore!®
MCU. The core concept was to design a unit that
would sample random trigger events caused by
a drummer hitting tubes of light and process
them into real-time commands that would be sent
out via MIDI protocol to control external sound
modules, keyboards, stage lighting, PC sound
cards, and so on. Instead of the synthetic sound
of a drum machine, the MIDI data is produced
with the volume and characteristics of how the
trigger was struck. This realism makes the unit
not only comfortable to play, but also pleasing
to the ear. |
