Driver Alert System

The affordable Driver Alert System uses ZigBee accelerometer sensors to monitor the movements of a motor vehicle driver’s head. The LPC2138 microcontroller-based system is designed to predict when a driver is falling asleep. Various audio alarms sound to warn the driver. The alarm system performs three types of warnings: it plays a loud, irritating noise through a Keil MCB2130 evaluation board’s on-board speaker; it plays customized prerecorded messages (e.g., “Wake up!”); and it turns up the volume of the vehicle radio.
