Aclock—The
Intelligent Alarm Clock
The
Aclock is designed for people who fall back to sleep
after they have turned off their alarm clocks. This
intelligent alarm does not turn off until the person
is out of bed. The Palm PDA-based application is interfaced
to MC33794 e-field sensors that detect the person’s
presence on a bed. The PDA is inserted into a special
docking station that is connected to a sensor interface
board. One sensor serves as a touch-pad snooze button.
When the alarm is on, touching this sensor will bump
the alarm time by 9 min. A second sensor is placed on
the mattress, under the sheet and mattress cover.
