Detector
The
Leak Detector is designed to prevent damage caused by
flooding from a washing machine, water heater, or other
device. When the system senses water on the floor, it
can sound an alarm or turn off a water valve. The MC33794
e-field sensor senses an electrostatic field—the size
and distance—between two plates. It measures how much
current is flowing between the two plates. The MC33794
senses the water that’s acting as a second plate of
the capacitor. Because the system works by sensing a
field, the sensor does not need moving parts, nor does
it require contact with the water.
